Freshmen and Sophomores Compete For The Win

The girls track team competed at the freshman-sophomore Pierce innvite on Tuesday, April 29.
Starting off in the 100-meter dash, sophomore Jada Brummels placed 17th, running a 15.50, freshman Paisley Sanders 15th, running a 14.71, and freshman Meredith Krienert 14th, running a 14.70.
In the 100-meter hurdles, freshman Kate Anderson got third place with a 19.51 and sophomore Grace Suckstorf was runner-up with a time of 19.01.
The 200-meter race, Brummels placed 15th running 31.65, Krienert 12th with a time of 30.98, and Sanders 11th 30.93.
Moving on to the 300-meter hurdles, Anderson placed sixth with a time of 1:01.15, and Suckstorf third, running a 52.66.
In the 800-meter run, freshman Natalie Endorf placed seventh with a time of 2:50.19.
Next up in the 4x100 relay, Anderson, Krienert, Sanders, and Suckstorf placed sixth, running a 56.43.
Onto field events in discus, freshman Kaelyn Halsey ended in 14th throwing 70-11, sophomore Cailynn Gardner was ninth, throwing 82-07, freshman Jordyn Schwede placed seventh with a throw of 86-07, freshman Brook Podany was fifth with a throw of 87-05, sophomore Raleigh Pfeiffer finished as runner-up throwing 109-04, and winning girls discus was sophomore Jessa Kraft with a throw of 124-06.
Moving on to the high jump, freshman Darcy Watts tied for seventh, jumping 4-02, Suckstorf tied for fifth, jumping 4-04.
For the long jump, Krienert placed 11th, jumping 13-06.
In pole vault, sophomore Evelyn Skrdla placed eighth with a vault of 6-09, Jada Johnson ended seventh, vaulting 7-03, sophomore Payton Ebmeier was sixth with a vault of 7-03, and sophomore Aubrie Zimmerman placed third with a vault of 8-03.
Onto shot put, Gardner threw 23-01.50 for 18th, in 13th was Halsey throwing 26-11, 12th place went to Payton Montgomery with a throw of 26-11.50, Schwede ended in ninth with a 27-10, runner-up was Kraft with 34-09.50, and winning girls shot was Raleigh Pfeiffer with a throw of 37-05.
In the triple jump, Brummels placed fifth, jumping 30-00.
“I think that the track meet was a very nice day, and a lot of people competed well. I hope to keep improving throughout the rest of the season,” Endorf stated.
“The track meet fell on a perfect day for everyone to perform their best. I even PR in shot put with 26 feet. I was very happy I didn’t get rained on,” Montgomery states.
Pierce Makes Strong Showing in the Fr/So Track meet

The Pierce freshman and sophomore track team hosted a track meet on April 29, at the Pierce High track. The boys medaled in a lot of events that they competed in that day.
Gavin Lubischer ran the 200-meter dash and ran a time of 24.95, giving him fourth place.
In the 400-meter dash, Konnar Jones ran a time of 56.79, which gave him third place.
“My time was a little slower than what I was expecting, in the beginning of the race my legs were still a little tired from the 4x1 but I pushed through and still got a decent time. I hope to improve in the next meet by pushing myself in practice and taking care of my body,” Jones said.
In the 800-meter race Kendall Shada achieved first place with a time of 2:11.16. Maxwell Weber also placed very well with third place with a time of 2:25.26.
Parker Gaes placed first place in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 42.90.
The 4x100 team consisted of Gaes, Lubischer, Aiden Pospisil, and Jones and ended with a time of 47.09, giving them second place.
In the 4x400 the Bluejays finished in second place and had a time of 3:46.10. The team consisted of Gaes, Shada, Pospisil, and Jones.
In the shot put Lawson Zierke got fourth with a throw of 38-02. Ethan Nordby also placed and got fifth with a throw of 38-00.
Nordby threw a total of 121-10 in the discus, getting him second place. Xavier Miller also placed with Nordby and got third with a throw of 119-11. Zierke also placed with a throw of 106-08, and got sixth place.
In high jump, Gaes placed second with a jump of 5-10.
Pole vaulter William Korth ended in sixth place with a vault of 8-03.
Lubischer got third place in long jump, with a jump of 18-10.
Lubischer also did great in the triple jump and claimed first place with a jump of 39-02, Pospisil placed third with a jump of 36-07, and teammate Baiden Neuhalfen got fifth with a jump of 35-10.50.
“Overall I felt pretty good. My second phase could be better, but we’ll just have to work on that during practice,” Neuhalfen said.
The next track meet will happen on May 8, at Norfolk Catholic High School track invite. The Jays will leave school mid-day to travel to Norfolk.
