by Kallie Edins

The one act play production officially kicked off their season, holding tryouts September 2 and 3, and started practices September 8 for this year’s play titled The Very UnMerry Adventures of Robin Hood by Jason Pizzarello and Patrick Greene.

The play is a spoof on the story of Robin Hood and his Merry Men attempting to save Sherwood Forest from the Sheriff of Nottingham. They are challenging each other to not only archery contests but also a talent show and beauty pageant.

Returning letterwinners from last year who will be joining one act again this year are Abygail Streff, Gage Longe, Shawn Zellmer, Zachary Price, Madisyn Hamm, Aundrea Huber, Elijah Jones, Alyssa Cederburg, and Katelyn Gubbels.

The roles are as follows: Robin Hood played Price, Little John and announcer for Little John played by Zellmer, Merry Man #1 and Billy Shakepeare will be played by Jones, Merry Man #2 played by Noah Jones, Poor Woman #1 and Maid #1 cast by Huber, Poor Woman #2 and Maid #2 played by Emma Risinger, Poor Person carried by Gubbels, Peasant and Sheriff acted by Longe, Helga played by Hamm, Will Scarlett carried out by Chloey Cederburg, Marion played by Streff, King Richard/Queen Berengaria taken by Ashley Wacker, Friar Tuck played by Sara Thomsen, Soldier #1/#3 played by Candace Clausen, Soldier #2/#4 pursued by Alyssa Cederburg, and crew positions will be filled by Trevor Voecks and Jordan Kuether.

One act assistant coach Brenna Anderson says, “I am most looking forward to seeing the cast and crew take a script and make it their own. I enjoy seeing them take a basic script and create a whole world and story.”

Catch the one act play on their opening community performance November 14, at 7 p.m. at the auditorium.
