Student Families Listen to Students Perform at the Pre-Contest Recital

At Pierce High School, a pre-contest music recital took place on April 22, and solos were performed, and small groups showed their talent in front of many people.
The choir and band performed their talents as each had solos and small groups.
The choir schedule consisted of solos by Hadleigh Collison, Addison Frye, Zoey Ebmeier, Cameron Wessendorf, Mackenna Wachholtz, and Brayden Passyka. The choir also had duets by Frye and Spencer Sindt, Ebmeier and Brianna Rundell.
“It's definitely nerve-racking to stand in front of a bunch of people and sing for them. It's a good experience to have, to challenge yourself to do something you never thought you would do,” Brianna Rundell, a junior duet performer, said.
The band contained soloists including Collison on the piano, Trayton Christiansen on the trumpet, Makayla Shefl on the flute, Sindt on the trombone, Ebmeier on the flute, Lillian Blank on the clarinet, Mya Johnson on the flute, and Aubrie Zimmerman on the clarinet.
The evening also included a saxophone duet, a woodwind trio and a flute trio, a saxophone quartet and a mixed woodwind quartet, a brass quintet, and the dixieland band.
“My solo went pretty well, breathing was rough, but overall it was pretty nice to run through it, and I feel like performing it in front of a few people before district music contest really helped. I feel like it was a good way for us to be able to see each other’s stuff, because you can’t always go see everyone at the district music contest, and it’s nice to see what your friends are doing and listen and support each other. It’s definitely rewarding, especially if you plan on doing music in college, because doing stuff like that can really help you in the long run, because those are chances for scholarships and stuff based on your score,” Blank, a junior soloist, said.
