Pierce Plays to the Beat of the Beatles
By Brody Knox
Marching to the beat of the Beatles, Pierce hosted their marching band festival on Wednesday, September 27. The Crofton Warriors won the sweepstakes trophy, which is handed to the highest scoring traveling high school.
“We did really good,” states drum major Peyton Wieting, “especially being our first field show of the year.”
O’Neill swept the color guard portion of the competition by getting the outstanding flag line award. Finally, Pierce finished with a score of superior.
For those who do not already know, the scores teams could receive are Good, Fair, Excellent, and Superior, with Superior being the best.
Other schools that competed included Schuyler, Wayne, David City, North Bend, and Lakeview.
“It was fun because I got to play music, I like playing music,” states Nils Røstad.
The Pierce marching band would love support at the next show, the Harvest of Harmony Parade and band competition in Grand Island on October 7.
