Pierce High Sophomores Take the PreACT
By Sara Thomsen
The Pierce High sophomores arrived at the school on Tuesday, Sept. 26, bright and early to take the PreAct.
The ACT website says that the PreACT “Gives students practice with taking the ACT. Educators can use insights from PreACT report data [to] understand performance predictions, inform interventions, and give instructional support.”
The PreACT is a slightly shorter exam designed to help students prepare for the official ACT exam by simulating the test and testing experience. The test includes English, math, science, and reading sections.
“The sophomore students' effort and respect impressed me. It would be easy for students to avoid taking the test, but they came, they respected the process, and they completed an important step in looking toward their futures,” guidance counselor Danielle Goestch comments. “The best part of the PreACT is the results. Students get a chance to learn about which fields best align with their abilities and what they need to do differently in order to mold their futures. ”
According to the ACT website, the PreACT provides, “Career suggestions based on student goals and interests are provided based on answers to the Student Profile and Interest Inventory.”
Sophomore Brody Knox says, “It was peaceful yet challenging, I believe that it will help set me set up my careers of interest in the future.”
