Homecoming Candidates

The homecoming candidates for Pierce High have been announced and the homecoming queen candidates are Madelyn Hanson, Maggie Painter, Jaya Wachholtz, and Peyton Wieting, while the homecoming king candidates are Korvin Fritz, Brayden Kuper, Keenan Valverde, and Champion White.

Madelyn Hanson is the daughter of Travis and Lesley Hanson. She has been a member of the FCA for four years, student council for four years, girls letter club for three years, National Honor Society for two years, and FCCLA for two years. Madelyn is currently the president for student council, vice president for girls letter club and National Honor Society, and the secretary for the senior class. She has been in softball for four years, basketball for three years, cheerleading for three years, quiz bowl for three years, band for two years, track for one year, and robotics for one year. She has received an academic letter three years, lettered in softball three years, been on principal’s honor roll three years, lettered in basketball two years, Academic All-State for softball one year, All-Conference honorable mention in softball one year, and Class-C All-Nebraska honorable mention in softball one year. Madelyn also serves as the cheer captain for the past two years. 

Korvin Fritz is the son to Jennifer and Scott Fritz. He participated in FFA for four years and letter club for three years. Korvin has been in football four years, band two years, and track two years. He has received an academic letter three years, principal’s honor roll three years, All-District football one year, and All-State football one year. He attends Northern Heights Baptist Church and volunteers on the Pierce Fair board.

Maggie Painter daughter of Les and Sharon Painter. She has been a member of student council for four years, girls letter club for three years, National Honor Society for three years, and FCA for three years. Maggie is currently the president of National Honor Society and vice president in student council. She also was student council treasurer junior year. She has been in volleyball four years, wrestling and track for three years, band for one year, and journalism one year. Maggie has received an academic letter three years, principal’s honor roll three years, All-Conference in volleyball for two years, All-State volleyball for two years, wrestling honorable mention two years. She has lettered in volleyball, wrestling, and track for three years, Maggie was a  district champion in wrestling, conference wrestling champion, and claimed sixth place at the state wrestling tournament. She is a member of Northern Heights Baptist Church and volunteers with Hands for Christ.

Brayden Kuper son to Robb Kuper and Jennifer Fanning. He has been in FFA for three years. Brayden is currently the senior class vice president, class treasurer his junior year, and class president his sophomore year. He has been a part of quiz bowl three years and football one year. He has been on the academic team for three years. Brayden has received principal’s honor roll for three years. He is a member of the Zion Lutheran Church.

Jaya Wachholtz is the daughter of Eric and Cali Wachholtz. She has been a member of girls letterclub four years, student council one year, and FCA one year. Jaya is currently the girls letter club president. She has participated in volleyball four years. Jaya has received letters in volleyball three years, academic letter three years, principal’s honor roll three years, all conference volleyball for three years, volleyball honorable mention three years, All-State honorable mention in volleyball two years, Norfolk Daily News Class C volleyball all Area Elite first team one year, Norfolk Daily News super six volleyball one year, and Norfolk Daily News Class C volleyball all Area Elite 8 second team one year. She is a member of Zion Lutheran Church and volunteers for Hands for Christ.

Keenan Valverde is the son of Al Valverde and Wendi Bennett. He has been a member of the boys letter club for four years and National Honor Society three years. Keenan has been in football four years, track three years, band one year, wrestling one year and 4-H since childhood. He has received principal’s honor roll three years, All-State football one year, peer tutor one year, and football All-State running back one year. He is a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Keenan also volunteers for Hands for Christ.

Peyton Wieting is the daughter of Perry and Jill Wieting. She has participated in FCA four years, National Honor Society two years, student council two years, FFA one year, and girls letter club one year. Peyton has been the junior class president and sophomore class treasurer. She has been in band four years, track two years, golf two years, drum major of Pride of the Bluejays marching band two years, and robotics one year. She has received an academic letter two years, principal’s honor roll three years, lettered in band three years, outstanding musician award at UNO Jazz Festival two years, lettered in golf one year, and peer tutor one year. Peyton is a member of Christ Lutheran Evangelical Church. She volunteers for Hands for Christ, has been in Girl Scouts, and a Cadet EMT with Pierce Fire and Rescue.

Champion White son of Andy and Tami White. He has been a member of the boys letter club for four years. He is currently the senior class vice president. Champion has been in basketball three years, football four years, and track three years. He has received honor roll awards for three years. Champion is a member of Zion Lutheran Church.

Homecoming coronation will take place following the football game on Friday, Sept. 22, and the Homecoming dance will be Saturday at the Pierce city auditorium from 8-11 p.m.
