Pierce Public Schools Host Donuts with Dames
By Addison Croghan
On the morning of Thursday, March 9, Pierce Elementary students invited their favorite female to school with them to enjoy the annual Donuts with Dames event. It will be held from 7:00-7:30 a.m.
Donuts for Dames are not just for mothers exclusively; grandmothers, step-moms, older sisters, aunts, or any other important female are also welcomed. While enjoying the donuts, coffee, or juice provided, the students get the opportunity to show their special dame around their classroom and all the cool things they learn during the school day. This year there are 609 students and adults signed up.
A mother attending this event, Amy Suckstorf, comments, “It’s a good opportunity to be able to get into their classroom and see how they start their school day and an added bonus of a delicious donut made by the awesome kitchen staff!”
Trent Suehl, the principal at Pierce Public Elementary School, says this event is all for the kids, noting, “The best part of Donuts with Dames is seeing how happy the students are to have their "dames" with them and just the happy atmosphere that it creates. We love getting family and community members in our building and allowing them to spend time here with the students.”
