Families Listen to their Kids Perform at the District Music Contest

On Friday, April 24, the Pierce High choir students joined together and partook in the district music contest to perform in front of the judges for all events.
The choir consist of, Tiffany Chaney, Maya Johnson, Savannah Lingenfelter, Maxwell Weber, Carter Sindt, Brayden Passyka, Tyler Oliveira, Athena Bretschneider, Kohle Koehler, Addison Frye, Tristan Holton, Spencer Sindt, Burkley Collison, Lauren Delka, Jenna Schwede, and Collin Wessendorf.
“I think we did really well because we are always working with new voices, and they worked hard,” choir director Amy Barnhill said.
In small group performances, Savannah Lingenfelter and Tyler Oliveira got a 2, which is an excellent rating.
Addison Frye and Spencer Sindt earned a 1-superior in their vocal duet.
Frye is a vocal soloist, and got 1-superior, Lingenfelter, vocal soloist as well got a 2-excellent, and Brayden Passyka is also a vocal soloist and got a 2-excellent.
Overall the Pierce Concert Choir got 1-Superior.
“I had a lot of fun, doing seven events was busy, but I always enjoy district music because it allows me to be judged and get feedback. In all of my events, I got a superior rating. My favorite event that I did this year was the percussion ensemble, just because it was so different.The choir sang "I Sing Because I'm Happy" and "The Journey,” Frye said.
Looking ahead, our last concert will be on Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m., so be there and come support the Pierce Choir students.
