People Who Shape Pierce: Clay Johnson
By Elizabeth Furstenau
The town of Pierce, is well-rounded with a respectful community, but who are the people who help make it what it is? Who are the people who shape Pierce?
Clay Johnson has been the electric department superintendent since March 2024. The position sort of fell into his lap after the past superintendent retired.
Over the years, the town has experienced some outages. While some have been due to freezing weather, others are caused by wildlife. The squirrels have become Johnson’s biggest problem. He has since added coverings around the poles.
Being that Pierce is a small town, Johnson’s electrical crew is not the typical size. It is just him and five to six other guys.
He hopes to have most, if not all, of the electric system underground eventually.
“Hopefully you don’t see very many poles around town,” Johnson claimed.
The town appreciates everything Clay Johnson has done to help move into the future.
