Boys Dominate at Wayne High School Invite

On Wednesday, April 8, the Bluejays flew to Wayne for the Wayne High School Invite, and the boys team placed first with an overall score of 128.5 points.

The Pierce boys have started the year on fire and came ready to compete at our first two meets. I’m excited to see how this group continues to grow throughout the season. I love the way they compete,” head coach Les Painter said. 

In the 100-meter dash, Colter Anderson placed fourth with a time of 11.69.

Gavin Lubischer placed sixth in the 200-meter dash, with a time of 23.86.

Running the 800, Brenden Bolling had run an impressive race, with a time of 2:01.24, giving him first place. 

In the 1600-meter run, Bolling earned first with a time of 4:48.52. Kendall Shada had run a time of 4:52.78, getting him second place. 

Shada also placed first in the 3200-meter run; he had a time of 10:52.68.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Ryder Theisen placed third, with a time of 16.05.

Theisen got third in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 42.57, and Parker Gaes finished in fifth with a time of 45.21.

Konnar Jones, Lubischer, Aiden Pospisil, and Anderson had run in the 4 x 100 relay and got third, with a time of 46.00.

In the 4 x 400, Bolling, Hayden Bauer, Gaes, and Jones got fourth with a time of 3:40.73.

Ethan Nordby threw 44-00 in the shot put and got second place, while Christian Nordby threw the shot put 40-02.00 to get fifth.

Jax Bauer set a new personal record for discus and had a throw of 158-02, which landed him in first place. Ethan Nordby also set a personal record with a throw of 135-06, which got him second place. Xavier Miller placed fourth with a throw of 127-10, which got him fourth place.

Gaes finished third in high jump, with a jump of 5-10. Sean Monroe also placed with a jump of 5-06, which got him fifth place.

In the pole vault, William Korth jumped a height of 9-06.00, which gave him sixth place.

Theisen earned third in the long jump, with a jump of 20-01.50. Lubischer jumped 19-09, which got him fourth place, and Pospisil got sixth with a jump of 18-10.

In the triple jump, Theisen again finished in first with a jump of 42-10.25, while Lubischer jumped a total of 38-07.75

Come join the Bluejays at their next track meet in Boone Central on Tuesday, April 14. Be there and cheer along with the rest of the team. 


Pierce High Girls Compete in Bluedevil Invitational

The Pierce High girls track team competed against Scotus Central Catholic, Boone Central, Wayne, Tekamah-Herman, and Wakefield in the Bluedevil Invitational at Wayne on April 8. The girls placed 5th on the day, behind Scotus Central Catholic, Boone Central, Wayne, and Tekamah-Herman.

In the shot put, the Pierce girls had one top six finisher in Kylie Dvorak, who finished in third place with a throw of 33-06 and was a season best throw for her as well. 

The girls also did well in the discus, with three girls placing in the top six in the event. Dvorak won the event with a throw of 130-06. Jessa Kraft placed second with a throw of 122-03. Raleigh Pfeiffer ended fifth with a throw of 104-10.

“I thought I threw well on the day, but I still think I can compete even better, and I’m excited to see how much I can improve throughout the season,” Dvorak says.

Next in the pole vault, the girls had two medalists in Aubrie Zimmerman and Jada Johnson. Zimmerman placed third, getting 8-06, and Johnson finished sixth getting a height of 7-06.

In the girls 4x800 relay, they placed third, getting a time of 11:33.65 seconds. This team included Emily Endorf, Haley Scholting, Natalie Endorf, and Kennedy Johnson.

After that, the girls competed in the 4x100 relay and placed fourth, with a time of 55.29 seconds. This team consisted of Grace Suckstorf, Meredith Krienert, Johnson, and Zimmerman.

In the 400-meter dash, Scholting placed fifth, with a time of 1:07.16, and got a personal best to end her day.

“It’s always nice to get a personal best, and even more exciting to do it this early in the season, and I want to keep working to get better at the 400,” Scholting says.

The girls team will compete next at Boone Central on April 14.
