The All-School Play Scream If You’re A Survivor
By Skyler Stern
This year, the all school cast and crew performed the play Scream If You’re A Survivor by Craig Sodaro.
The play was also performed on Friday and Saturday night, and anyone who wanted to watch could come to the auditorium, and it cost six dollars for adults and four dollars for students. The whole student body was released during the fourth period on Thursday to go down to the auditorium to watch the final dress rehearsal.
“It takes a special kid to put yourself out there the way that all of these kids on the cast and crew do knowing that people may make fun of you for the things you may do but ultimately it makes the final product that much better and people who have never done a play before don’t understand the feeling you have out on that stage or behind it making a show work,” all school director Brock Bretschneider said.
Every year, Bretschneider and all the seniors in all school sit down, and he gives them a few choices between plays. The seniors then choose the play they want to perform for that year.
“I enjoyed the play, I thought it wasn’t going to top last year's play, but it definitely came in a close second. I had lots of fun and enjoyed participating in the play this year,” Boston Krueger, a senior who is returning to all school this year, states.
In the play, a bunch of high school students are offered money if they can spend the night in a haunted house. The play is a funny story of them trying to get out in one piece and is really representative of high school cliques and the different groups.
“I love the opportunity to help the kids make an entire world out of just some pages in a book, and how they make each play their own,” Bretschneider states.
Colter Anderson, a senior who participated in all school for the first year, says, “It was fun, and I encourage anyone to try it out. It was a good environment, and everyone worked hard and had lots of fun.”
