Pierce High Girls Track Team Dominates at the Stanton Invite

To start off the year, the Pierce girls competed at Stanton and were really dominant in every event that they did, claiming second place as a team. 

“The Pierce girls took second at the Stanton Invite. I felt like, for our first meet outdoors with the conditions, our kids competed at an exceptional level. I’m excited to see what they can do next week at Wayne,” head coach Les Painter said.

To kick the day off, Aislyn Moeller got first place in the 200-meter dash and had a time of 26.8 seconds, to set her personal record. 

Moeller also got first place in the open 400-meter dash; she had a time of 1:02.2., and teammate Haley Scholting earned third with a time of 1:07.9.

In the 800-meter run, Natalie Endorf earned third place with a time of 2:49.0.

I think we did well for it being our first meet. We've improved a lot from the first days of practice, and we'll continue to improve throughout the season,” Endorf said. 

Grace Sucksdorf placed first in the 300-meter hurdles, with a time of 55.4 seconds.

The girls placed first in the 4x400, with a time of 4:37.2, and Nora Herian, Scholting, Kennedy Johnson, and Moeller all competed in it.

Teammates Raleigh Pfeiffer and Kylie Dvorak finished second and fourth, respectively, in shot put, with throws of 34-08 and 33-5.5.

Jessa Kraft claimed first in the discus and had a throw of 116-5. Dvorak also had good numbers, putting up a throw of 115-3, and finished second behind Kraft.

In the pole vault, Aubrie Zimmerman vaulted to third place with a jump of 7-00 exactly. 

The girls did an amazing job at their first meet and have many more to show off their talent. Come join the girls at Wayne invite on Wednesday, April 8, starting at 10am be there and be loud.

Although the temperature only reached 55 and a north wind blew at a steady 25 mph, that did not stop the Pierce boys from winning gold at their first outdoor meet of the season at the Stanton High School Track Invitational. 

This track meet included Pierce, Stanton, Bancroft-Rosalie, North Bend Central, Winside, Clarkson-Leigh, West Holt, Pender, Winnebago, and Lyons-Decatur Northeast. 

The Pierce boys did very well throwing the discus, with two boys getting in the top three in Jax Bauer and Ethan Nordby. Bauer won gold with a solid throw of 143-00, and Nordby finished third with a throw of 125-03. 

In high jump, the boys had another pair of medalists who jumped very well in Parker Gaes and Sean Monroe. Starting off with Gaes, he placed well, getting fourth with a jump of 5-08. Next up, Monroe did solid as well, getting sixth and jumping 5-06.

“I wasn’t super proud of myself today, but placing in any event is something to be proud of, and I’m going to keep working to get a higher place in the next meet,” Gaes says.

After that, three boys for the Bluejays placed in long jump and all did very well for themselves. Finishing with a gold medal was Ryder Theisen with a winning jump of 20-06.5. Juniors Gavin Lubsicher and Aiden Pospisil finished fourth and sixth with a jumps of 19-01.75 and 18-06, respectively.

Theisen also got second place in the triple jump with a jump of 43-00.25.

In pole vault, Pierce had two top six finishers in William Korth and his younger brother, Henry Korth. W. Korth got third place, vaulting 8-02, while H. Korth finished in fifth, getting 6-02.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Theisen claimed his second first place of the day with a time of 16.1 seconds.

For the boys in the 400-meter dash, Brenden Bolling and Konnar Jones both finished in the top three on the day. Bolling finished in first place on the day with a time of 53.8, while Jones got a solid third place finish, running 57.4. 

“You know, I didn’t know how this race was going to go for me, but I was glad to get a decent time and I’m excited to improve to look towards running the 400 at state,” Bolling says.

The 200-meter dash went well for the boys with Lubischer and Colter Anderson both placing top six in the event. Lubischer got third place, running 23.3, and Anderson ended in fifth, running 23.9.

In the 800 race, Bolling got his second gold medal of the day, winning the race pretty handily with a time of 2:15.

The 300 hurdles went extremely well for the boys team, and they had three boys finish in the top four. Theisen won his third event on the day with a winning time of 43.8, Gaes got second place with a time of 45.0, and Caycen Ernst got fourth place with a time of 50.5. 

Kendall Shada and Maxwell Weber both did very well for themselves in the 1600 with Shada winning gold with a time of 4:59.4, and Weber getting third place with a time of 5:21.2 

The boys 4x100 team consisted of Jones, Lubischer, Pospisil, and Anderson. The boys competed well in the 4x100, getting second place with a time of 46.2. The boys also competed very well in the 4x400 and got first place on the day. This team consisted of Lucas Weber, Hayden Bauer, Ethan Claussen, and Jones, who ran a 3:51.7.

The Pierce boys track team showed very good things in their first team meet of the year.

In the next meet for boys and girls, they will be traveling to Wayne on Wednesday, the following week.
