Little Voices Create Merry Sound for the Holidays
By Elizabeth Furstenau
It is that time of year when Christmas music fills the air, and at 7 p.m. Thursday, December 11, the kindergarten through fifth grade classes joined together at the high school for their annual holiday concert. The students were directed by music director Amy Barnhill.
“I love everything about the holiday concerts,” Barnhill said. “The kids get to dress up, show off their talents, have songs that get them out of their comfort zone, and it gets everyone in the holiday spirit.”
Beginning the night was the kindergarten classes. They sang We Are the Stars by Joell Rachel, Decorate the Tree by D & A Ellsworth, and Pictures with Santa by T. Jennings.
Next was the third grade class singing Peace on Earth and Santa Claus is on His Way, both by T. Jennings.
The first graders also sang two songs by T. Jennings: Christmas Makes Me Sing and Red and Green.
The Angels Sang and The Greatest Season were sung by the fourth graders. Their songs were also by T. Jennings.
The second grade classes sang Christmas Lights and Hip Hop Reindeer also by T. Jennings.
“You get to feel like more free with all the actions,” fifth grader Collin Classen stated. “Probably like you get to feel free, and you don’t have to worry about anything.”
Ending the night were the fifth graders with Christmas at Home by John Riggio, and We Wish You a Swingin’ Holiday by P. Jennings.
“I like our actions and I also like the swinging holiday song,” fifth grader Zoey Podany claimed. “I also like Christmas at Home because it's more calmer and I like that it goes first. I like the second one because it's happy and merrier.”
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from the elementary to you.
