Girls Letter Club Served Breakfast before the Veterans Day Program
By Cameron Kuehler
Prior to the Veteran’s Day program on Tuesday, November 11, the girls letter club served breakfast in the high school commons to all of the veterans and their families.
The letter club members arrived early to prepare the food, set up the serving area, and made sure everything looked welcoming for the honored guests. As the veterans came in, the girls greeted them with smiles, thanked them for their service, and made sure everyone received a meal, including eggs, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and sausage links.
This is the fourth year girls letter club has sponsored a breakfast prior to the service. “We thought it would be a good community service for the veterans to honor their service,” Shelly Adams, girls letter club sponsor, said.
In addition to providing community service, the veterans breakfast is a good way to honor the veterans in our community. This also gives the veterans a chance to visit with each other before the program starts.
“I enjoyed their smiles and stories; they were very polite,” girls letter club member Naomi Sullivan said.
