Basketball Season is Beginning, Let’s have a Closer Look at the Boys Team

By Charlotte Enk

The Pierce basketball team 2025 is coming out with 28 players; six of them are seniors, eight are juniors, four sophomores, and 10 freshmen.

The boys playing basketball include seniors Jax Bauer, Brock Collison, Keaton Frazier, Tyler Schulz, Ryder Theisen, and Dayton Watts.

Juniors on the team are: Noah Fuerhoff-Gubbels, Gavin Lubischer, Sean Monroe, Ethan Nordby, Aiden Pospisil, Maddox Ronspies, Kendall Shada, and Lawson Zierke.

“I’m very excited for this season because we got good seniors and juniors. They can play, we are also practicing hard; last week we had practice before and after school everyday and sometimes on Saturdays too,” head coach Ryan Ohnoutka said. “Every player is important for the team, and I am happy to see especially my seniors be an example of a good team player and if somebody could lead the team good, it would be Brock Collison. But we can build our team also with a good point guard like Gavin Lubischer.”

Ohnoutka’s assistants are Kaleb Anderson, Trent Simpson, and Mike Emory.

Anderson had a couple years of experience with the sophomores and freshmen and is now ready for the JV team.

“I want the children to play with confidence and fun, because I like to work with the players. In addition, I like basketball because it has a fast pace and everything could change so quickly and the energy is high,” Anderson said.

The student managers this year are: Henry Classen, Corbin Moeller, Maverick Krienert, Rayce Theisen, Cooper Neesen, Parker Fischer, James Mattson.

“The fun in basketball is that you can hear the loud crowd more, and it just feels smoother. And it’s more contact with the ball,” Collison said.

Many of the players just want to be an example of a team player. “It’s not just about the points, but it’s more about the energy” Collison said.

Good luck for this year, Bluejays!
