Girls Basketball Preseason Sets the Tone

By Naomi Sullivan

Starting way back in the summer, the girls basketball team began preparing for this winter season. From summer weights to early shoot arounds in the morning, and conditioning before the season starts up, the girls are ready for the challenge of the new season.

“I am excited about what our team has to offer this season. We got a great group of girls willing to put in the hard work, and I am excited to see where that will take us this year,” senior Emiy Endorf said. ‘I hope to step into more of a leadership role. As a senior who started last year, I know what to expect, and I hope to take the knowledge that I have gathered over the past couple of years and help the younger players. I think that we have great chemistry. We are all friends in and out of school, and we have been playing together for a while now. We did a few camps this summer to help us prepare for this season. Also, I’ve been putting in some work on my own, whether it was at my house or in the gym, to prepare for this basketball season. I would really like to improve my shooting this year because I think that could really benefit our team. My favorite part of basketball season is playing with my friends. I also really like the energy around Christmas when playing basketball. It makes practice fun and exciting.”

The team's theme this year is “Rise Above,” and they have 22 girls going out this year for the team.

Seniors are Abigail Cone and Endorf.

Returning juniors are Nora Herian, Grace Suckstorf, Mya Froehlich, Adrienne Riggert, Chloe Warneke, Haley Scholting.

Sophomores this year include: Natalie Endorf, Aislyn Moeller, Meredith Kreiniert,  Kaelyn Halsey, Maelee Hamilton, Darcy Watts, Jada Johnson, Jordyn Schwede.

Five new freshmen include: Athena Bretschneider, Lydia Cone, Mckenna Deiterman, Kendyl Olson, and Teigan Warneke.

“We’re all excited for this season. It’s a really fun group to get to play with every single day, and we’re really competitive. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can do this year,” A. Cone said.
