Bluejays Fall in Football Playoffs
For the second time in three years, the Pierce football team made the trek to Sidney for a state football matchup. After spending the night in Ogallala, then heading to Sidney for the 2 p.m. mountain time kickoff, the Bluejays faced a tough opponent in the Red Raiders, losing 21-14.
Sidney scored first, and held the Jays scoreless in the first quarter.
Pierce answered back early in the second quarter, when freshman quarterback Brody Scholting connected with senior Colter Anderson, who then ran the ball in for the touchdown. Junior Tate Wales kicked the point after, tying the score at 7. The Red Raiders struck again before the half was over, leading 14-7 going into halftime.
Again in the third quarter, Sidney found the end zone again, leading 21-7.
With 11:11 left in the fourth quarter, senior Bryce Lindstrom hit the end zone while Wales kicked the PAT.
The Bluejays end the season with a 6-4 record.
