Bluejays Lose Volleyball District Finals

The Pierce Bluejays lost to the Malcolm Clippers in a four set match of district volleyball finals on Saturday afternoon at the Bluejays’ home court.
In the first set, Malcom defeated Pierce 25-21, while in the second set, yet again Malcolm won with a score of 25-19. With a turn of events, the Bluejays fight back and take the set with a score of 25-22; however, in the fourth set, the Clippers unfortunately kicked it back into gear, defeating the Pierce Bluejays with a score of 25-22.
“Overall, it was a good game; it definitely probably wasn’t the cleanest we played, but overall, I think I’m just proud of how our team grew this season, and what we accomplished. I think overall, I’m very proud of my team and what they've achieved and what we’ve overcome this season,” states senior Naomi Sullivan.
Junior Nora Herian led the Bluejays in kills with a whopping 24 kills, followed by senior Abigail Cone with 17, and freshman Lydia Cone with 10.
In ace serves, junior Adrienne Riggert and Herian lead with three each, followed by A. Cone and junior Josie Painter with one each.
With assists, Riggert blazed a trail for the team with an outstanding 42 assists, followed by junior Haley Scholting with seven, Painter, and Herian with two.
Once again, Herian led the team in digs, Herian with 16, followed by A. Cone with nine and Painter with eight, Riggert with six, Scholting with five, senior Emily Endorf with two, and L. Cone with one.
“My career went by a lot faster than I was expecting it to. It’s definitely sad, knowing that I won’t put on a Pierce volleyball jersey ever again,” states A. Cone, “But it was a great season and I’m grateful for all the memories we got to make as a team.”
Volleyball Dominates in Subdistricts

The Bluejays started off strong after their big conference win on Tuesday, October 28, the volleyball team took on North Bend. Playing only three sets, the Lady Jays dominated the Cadets.
“I was proud of our team for winning our subdistrict and being able to host it. We kept our composure throughout the game, and we were able to make plays to get the sweep,” senior Abbie Cone states.
In the first set, the Jays won 25-9.
Also taking the second set was the Bluejays scoring 25-22.
Closing out the game, Pierce flew by the Cadets 25-14.
“Our block has improved tremendously since our last game. I am very proud of our defense and offense. During the second set, we had given them a lead and lost our momentum, and I was very proud of the way we bounced back from adversity,” senior Naomi Sullivan stated.
Junior Nora Herian secured the most digs for the night with 14, followed by junior Josie Painter with 12, and junior Haley Scholting with six.
Claiming the most kills for the night were Herian with 17, A.Cone with nine, and freshman Lydia Cone with eight.
Adrienne Riggert had 35 assists for the game.
Jays Dominate West Point-Beemer

The Pierce High Jays volleyball team beat the West Point-Beemer in a dominant sweep, 3-0.
“We played very well. I've been very happy with our defense lately,” head coach Zach Weber comments. “This game was another step forward in that regard.”
The first set’s score was 25-8, starting the match off strong for the Bluejays. Pierce then put together an impressive second set, finishing 25-16. In the third and final set, the Jays pushed through and finished 25-15.
In the game, Nora Herian led the team in kills with 18, Abigail Cone followed, racking up 10, while Lydia Cone totalled eight kills.
For digs, Josie Painter made 14, Herian dug up 13, and A. Cone added seven.
Herian, Adrienne Riggert, and Painter each made one ace serve.
Riggert had 33 assists on the night.
“I thought we came out on fire. We knew that West Point might not have been up to our level, but we didn't let that slow us down. We played a complete all-around game, and I thought that gave us motivation going into our game on Tuesday,” comments Herian.
