Pierce Golf Team Swings Through Boone Quad
By Zane McKeown
On Thursday, April 17, the Pierce High boys varsity golf team traveled to Boone Central to compete in a four-team quad tournament. The Bluejays finished fourth as they continue to develop and sharpen their game this season.
Leading the team was Tyler Schulz, who shot an 89.
Despite facing challenges off the tee, Schulz remained positive about his performance. “Even though I struggled with my shots off the tee, I’m proud of myself for still finding a way to put up a decent score,” he said. “The team is making small improvements. We just need to keep getting better consistently.”
Cooper Wachholtz followed closely with a 92, while Noah Fuerhoff-Gubbels added a 96. Rounding out the scores were Payton Cederburg with a 101 and Cameron Kuehler with a 102.
Although the team did not place at the top, the meet served as another step forward in a season focused on steady progress and growth. With continued practice and determination, the Bluejay golfers are hopeful for stronger finishes in upcoming competitions.

The boys golf team travelled to Crofton on April 14 to compete in a tournament at Crofton.
The team placed fourth with 399 points out of nine teams, which consisted of Ponca, Summerland, Chambers-Wheeler Central, Pierce, Lutheran High Northeast, Niobrara-Verdigre, Neligh-Oakdale, Homer, Crofton, and Santee.
The team had two of five golfers place: Tyler Schultz, who placed eighth with a score of 92, and Cooper Wachholtz, who placed ninth with a score of 94.
“The meet was not the most fun, but I just put all my focus on hitting the golf ball correctly and trying to stay out of the trouble due to the wind,” Schultz said.
“Even though the weather was pretty rocky, I feel like as a team we got better in certain areas,” Cameron Kuehler said.
The team will compete on Tuesday, April 29, at Hartington.
