Pierce Flag Football Continues
By Skyler Stern
Now that fall is here, it’s that time of year where grades 3-6 play 7-on-7 flag football against each other.
All players are divided into teams at random based on their grade level. Grade 3-4 are in one league and grades 5-6 are in a separate league. The team names for each league come from random Division 1 college football teams.
Darin Suckstorf, who organizes the flag football leagues, states, “Kids enjoy playing flag football because it gives them an opportunity to compete against their friends.” In the future he is looking to change the college football teams to NFL teams instead.
Sixth grader Thayer Thelen says, “I look forward to being able to hit people in junior high.” His favorite part about flag football is being able to play with his friends.
People can come watch the teams play each other for the final weekend, Sunday, Sept. 15, on the soccer fields at the Pierce High School.
