Attaboy Entertains Pierce

By Claudia Riggert

Pierce welcomed the loving and fun band Attaboy to Pierce High School during school hours on April 4! Attaboy showed off their delightful music while sharing inspiring stories with students and teachers. Activities such as a lip sync contest and dance battle took place during the performance with the crowd.

“It was a great way to give students a break from school activities,” junior Aylla Weeder comments. “Listening to their inspiring stories and watching the fun concert was very uplifting.”

Attaboy consists of four members including Ryan Payne, vocalist and guitarist; Jeff Edgel, guitarist and pianist; Melanie Watson, bass and background vocals; and Christian Watson, drummist. The group met at a college in Indiana. After creating a bond, they decided to give the band a try. After one year of great success, Attaboy went all in and has since released around 63 songs.

Attaboy is currently on a tour consisting of nighttime concerts along with performing at schools during the day. Vocalist Ryan Payne claims that going to schools allows the band to offer direct encouragement to those listening.

The band’s goal is to write encouraging but fun music – getting inspiration from personal experiences. Payne comments, “We often write music about what people are going through, and we communicate encouragement and inspiration in a way that will help them process what they are going through. We want to be able to encourage people not just in their life but in a greater bigger picture.”

Attaboy then finished their Pierce experience later that night when they performed a free concert for those in Pierce at 7!
