Homecoming Activities Starting Soon

By Jana Stone

Pierce High homecoming week is approaching. Starting on Monday, Sept. 18 going to Saturday Sept. 23, there are many different activities to do throughout the week for everyone to enjoy.

One of the activities that everyone can participate in is dress up days. Monday is pajama day, Tuesday is Disney day, Wednesday is rhyme without a reason, Thursday is popstar vs. rapper, and Friday is spirit day. All jr/sr students are highly encouraged to participate.

Another activity is the parade around town for the different sports and activities. Student groups make floats and head down the hill to the elementary school at 1:20 p.m. for a mini pep rally that will start at 1:30. The different floats consist of football, cheer, FCCLA, softball, volleyball, and other clubs that want to join in.

The first thing students do at the pep rally is have the band and cheerleaders perform. Then principal Mark Brahmer introduces all of the different groups at the school to come forward and talk about what they do. After introductions then high school students sign autographs for about 15-20 minutes.

After the time is up at the elementary around 1:55 p.m. all groups hustle back to the floats and have a parade around town and past Zion Lutheran school. Following the parade, everyone heads up to the high school for a bigger pep rally, which starts at 2:25, before the school day ends.

At the high school pep rally, the homecoming king and queen candidates will be brought out to participate in a fun and entertaining activity in front of students and parents. The queen candidates are Madelyn Hanson, Maggie Painter, Jaya Wachholtz, and Peyton Wieting. The king candidates are Korvin Fritz, Brayden Kuper, Keenan Valverde, and Champion White. Also at the pep rally the dance team will be performing a dance.

Of course, Friday night the football team will play against the Wayne Blue Devils. The game starts at 7 p.m. and everyone is welcome to join and come watch. There will be a performance at halftime by the cheerleaders.

Finally, Saturday, Sept. 7 is the homecoming dance. The theme for the homecoming dance is fairy tale. The dance will be held from 8-11 p.m.
