Pierce Host Vocal Clinic
by Jana Stone
The Pierce High choir hosted the Mid-State conference chorus with seven other schools, including O’Neill, Crofton, Wayne, Cedar Catholic, Boone Central, and Norfolk Catholic.
There were two songs as a mass choir before all choirs did their single songs. The first song was, “Come Travel With Me” and “Sing With the Lark.”
Each school brought one performance and also sang four songs as a mass choir. O’Neill sang; “4 Chords: A Choral Medley,” Crofton performed “Adiemus,” Wayne sang “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel,” Boone Central vocalized “Keep Your Lamps Trimmed and Burning.” Also, the song, “Songs from Stranger Things” was performed by Norfolk Catholic. For the last performance of the single choirs, Pierce sang “Homeward Bound.”
Freshman Izzabelle Price says, “With it being my first time, the experience was fun especially with a good choir teacher. The best part of the vocal clinic was meeting new people during our breaks.”
After all of the single performances, there were two more mass choir songs sung. The second to last song was In Flanders Field, and the last song was He Never Failed Me Yet.
The Pierce choir will host a concert for the K-5 grades at 7:00 on November 30. The next high school choir concert will be in December.
