Pierce Races For the Win at Wayne

Tuesday, April 6, the Pierce varsity track team traveled to Wayne for the second meet of the season. The boys team came home with a 1st place win with 134 points, and the girls placed 3rd with 107.50 points.  

Head coach Tim Waldner says, “We had a great day. Weather was good and all the kids are continuing to improve. We ended with 71 pr’s on the day so that shows we are moving in the right direction. Having last year off has made us all appreciate what we missed out on watching everyone compete.” 

Starting off the day strong with girls shot put, MaKinzie Parsons came in third with a throw of 34-9.50. 

The boys shot put results were Cruz Gleason with a throw of 47-2.50, gaining him third, and Bode Hoffman not far behind in fifth with his throw of 41-8.50.

For the girls pole vault, Ciara Garcia earned sixth place, with a vault of 7-00. 

Miles Garcia flew into second with a vault height of 12-00. Dalton Delka vaulted his way to third with his vault of 11-06. 

Jumping into high jump, Payten Simmons jumped into fourth with her jump of 4-08, with Katie Vogt jumping 4-04 and receiving sixth. 

Boys high jump had great jumps with Logan Moeller placing third with a jump height of 5-10, and Dawson Watts jumped his way into fourth with a jump of 5-10.

Into the next event, Sarah Miller placed fifth with a throw of 100-01 in the girls discus.

The gold was taken home by Tristan Miller with a throw of 144-05 in boys discus. Second was stolen by Cruz Gleason with a 134-03 throw. Dawson Raabe took fourth with a 125-01 discus throw. 

Gina Wragge bound her way into taking first, with a strong jump of 33-11.75 in girls triple jump. Faith Lubischer also placed with a jump of 32-08.75, placing her fourth. Abigail Meier jumped to fifth with a 32-07.75 jump.

L. Moeller took second in the boys triple jump, jumping 44-09. Luke Collison placed fifth with a jump of 40-05.50. 

The girls long jump winner was Kenzie Moeller, with a jump of 17-04.00. Morgan Moeller took home third with her jump of 16-04.00, with Wragge right behind in fourth with a 16-02 jump. Morgan Blecher jumped 15-07, placing her sixth.

The boys long jump gold winner was L. Moeller with a jump of 22-00.25. Addison Croghan came in fifth with his jump of 19-08.50. Michael Kruntorad got sixth, jumping 19-08.

The 100-meter girls dash was next, and K. Moeller received fifth, with a time of 13.85. For the boys 100-meter dash, Evan Willits came in fourth with a time of 11.65, with Ritter Oestreich right behind with a time of 11.66, placing fifth. 

The girls 400-meter dash was run by Callie Arnold, who received second with a time of 1.03.13.

Taking home third in the boys 400-meter dash was Kaden Johnson, running a time of 53.30.

Arnold placed second again in the girls 800-meter run, with her time of 2.35.79. 

The boys 800-meter race was run by Mason Sindelar, running his way to first with a time of 2.01.46. Gavin Geneski earned fifth, with a time of 2.17.63.

Simmons took fifth with a time of 6.16.555 in the girls 1600-meter run.

The girls 100-meter hurdles were next, with Faith Lubischer receiving third, with her time of 18.14. Meier received sixth with 18.88, with Wragge right behind, receiving seventh with 18.98.

In the boys 110-meter hurdles, Delka received fourth with a time of 6.21.

In the girls 300-meter hurdles, Lubischer hurdled her way to fourth with a 50.56 time. Meier finished sixth, hurdling a time of 54.44. 

Benjamin Brahmer got fifth in the finals, with a time of 44.46 in the boys 300-meter hurdles.

For the girls 4x100 relay, the ‘B’ team, consisting of Elizabeth Hammer, Blecher, K. Moeller, and Abby Watts, ran their way to third with a time of 55.92. Receiving sixth in the girls 4x100 relay was the ‘A’ team built up of Wragge, Vogt, Lubischer, and M. Moeller with a time of 57.21.

The boys 4x100 meter, placing fourth, was the ‘A’ team formed by Willts, Oestreich, L. Moeller, and Johnson, with their time of 45.15. 

The girls 4x400 meter relay was won by the ‘A’ team that consisted of Arnold, K. Moeller, Simmons, and Meier, with a time of 4.22.93. The ‘B’ team took fifth, built up of M. Moeller,  Maggie Painter, Raegan Theisen, and Vogt having a time of 4.43.15.

For the 4x400 boys relay the ‘A’ team placed first, consisting of M. Sindelar, Oestreich, Brahmer, and Johnson. 

The girls 4x800 was run by Arnold, Simmons, M. Moeller, and Theisen, receiving third with a time of 11.03.11.

The boys 4x800 meter relay got first taken home by the ‘A’ team with a time of 8.51.66, with the team consisting of M. Sindelar, Gavin Sullivan, Christopher Efta, and Brock Bolling. Fourth was won by the ‘B’ team filled by: Blake Bolling, David Dale, Colby Anderson, and Jayden Coulter, with a time of 9.37.09. 

Sophomore M. Moeller comments, “It was a good meet with a lot of good competition, but I thought everyone competed well and improved from the first meet.”

The next varsity track meet will be Tuesday, April 13, at Boone Central, starting at 2 p.m.
