Marching Band Performs at Pierce Festival

by Taylor Compton

The Pierce High marching band performed at the annual Pierce festival on Wednesday, September 30. The band performed their Chuck Mangione show called “Mangione Magic.” Overall, the band received a superior on their performance.

Senior Rebecca Albrecht commented, “I thought it was a great run through. We just need to work on a couple of sets.”

Director Mike Sindt said, “The festival as a whole went very smoothly. We had some great parent and school staff volunteers as well as five great judges. All of the directors from the other schools were very happy to have this opportunity for their students to be able to perform. Our band played and marched particularly well, and had a great improvement from even last weekend. The rest of the marching season will be different from what we usually do in that we are done with live critiqued performances, but I feel we have some good opportunities to show off for our community in the coming weeks.”

The marching band’s next performance will be after the Battle Creek football game on Friday, October 16.
