Varsity Track Team Takes Silver

The girls’ and boys’ varsity track teams took part in the Knights of Columbus Meet put on at Columbus Scotus’ track on Tuesday, April 9. Both teams finished the meet as runner-up.

Starting the day off right in field events, Maggie Brahmer placed 1st in high jump reaching the height of 5’00”, and not far behind her was Rhayna Waldner who placed 5th and reached the height of 4’08”. Also placing 5th was Angelica Volquardsen in pole vault who vaulted 8’00”. In long jump, Kenzie Moeller placed 1st and jumped 15’10”.50, Janae Arens placed 3rd and jumped 15’07”.25, and Morgan Blecher placed 4th and jumped 15’04”.75. Gina Wragge took the gold in triple jump by jumping 33’07”.50. Placing 3rd in discus was Kaylee Dvorak, who threw 113’09”. In shot put, Marie Stone threw 34’00’ and placed 3rd, and Dvorak threw 33’05” and placed 5th. Placing 3rd in the 4x800-meter relay was the team of Alexus Sindelar, Payten Simmons, Zoe Brenden, and Callie Arnold, who ran a time of 10:37.74. Brahmer placed 1st in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.67. In the 400-meter dash, Katie Vogt placed 4th with a time of 1:03.72, and close behind her was Moeller with a time of 1:04.76. Vogt also placed 3rd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.92, and not far behind her once again was Elizabeth Hammer with a time of 28.81 for 6th. Sindelar placed 1st in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.51, and placing 4th in this event was Arnold with a time of 2:35.36. In the 300-meter hurdles, Brahmer placed 3rd with a time of 51.28, Faith Lubischer placed 4th with a time of 51.80, and Abigail Meier placed 5th with a time of 52.03. Moeller, Brahmer, Sindelar, and Arnold placed second in the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 52.57. Placing 2nd in the 4x400 meter relay were Moeller, Sindelar, Arnold, and Simmons with a time of 4:27.38.

Beginning the boys in field events, Dawson Watts placed 3rd in high jump reaching the height of 5’06”. Dalton Delka placed 5th in pole vault reaching the height of 10’06”. In triple jump, Gavin Larson placed 2nd with a jump of 40’08”.50, Logan Moeller placed 5th with a jump of 40’03”, and Mason Sindelar placed 6th with a jump of 38’10”. Cruz Gleason placed 3rd in discus with a throw of 141’01”, and Colby Richart placed 4th with a throw of 133’10”. Gleason also placed 4th in shot put with a throw of 44’06”. Placing 2nd in the 4x800 meter relay with a time of 8:46.66 was Cole Vogt, Isaac Lambrecht, David Dale, and Sindelar. In the 110-meter hurdles, Devan Roth placed 1st with a time of 16.09, and Michael Kruntorad placed 6th with a time of 19.44. Carson Oestreich placed 1st in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.41, and close behind, Dalton Freeman placed 2nd with a time of 11.45; placing 6th was Brett Tinker with a time of 11.93. Dale placed 3rd in the 400-meter dash with a time of 54.61, and not too far behind him was Kaden Johnson, who placed 6th with a time of 57.06. Freeman placed 2nd in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.10. In the 800-meter run, Sindelar ran a time of 2:07.09 and placed 1st. Oestreich placed 2nd in the 300-meter hurdles race with a time of 42.90. Sindelar placed 2nd in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:51.32. Freeman, Oestreich, Dale, and Roth placed 2nd in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:37.64.

Head track coach Tim Waldner said, “I’m proud of the way all the kids competed against some really talented teams.”

The track team’s next meet will be at Pierce on Thursday, April 18, beginning at 10 a.m.
