By Brett Tinker
On Tuesday October 24th, Mr. Neal along with 6 FFA members took a trip to Indianapolis, Indiana for 2017 National FFA Convention. The FFA members were President Amber Albrecht, Vice President Tyler Unseld, Sentinel Garret Kroupa, Parliamentarian Devon Unseld, Carter Anderson, and Paige Johnson. They arrived in Indianapolis on Wednesday October 25th. The group attended the Ag Expo and career fair on the afternoon they arrived and attended the Rascal Flatts concert that night. The following day the group attended multiple ag workshops and convention sessions. That evening the group ate at an area restaurant that supported local agriculture. The next day they toured Fair Oaks Farms located 30 minutes South of Chicago. Sophomore FFA officer Garret Kroupa said, “My overall experience was great. I had a blast meeting new people from other states and I loved seeing the new advancements in agricultural technology.” Sophomore Devon Unseld commented about Fair Oaks Farms saying, “Fair Oaks Farm does an awesome job of telling the true story of agriculture and giving the public a good view of a working dairy farm and pig operation. I thought the milking carousel was a really efficient method of handling all the cattle.” Mr. Neal said, “The overall trip to the national convention was a success.”
