Students Make Honor Bands
Three Honor Band clinics and concerts were held this January. The UNK Honor Band was held on the January 25 in Kearney. The UNO Honor Band was held on the last weekend of January. The Wayne State College (WSC) Honor Band was held on January 30.
Six students made both the UNK and UNO Honor Bands: Joe Fehringer, Brittany Spieker, Elyssa Leach, Kellon Ronspies, Logan Sudbeck, and Emily Taylor.
Ten students made the UNK Honor Band or UNK Festival Band. Briana Adams, Lacey Adams, and Jordan Brus made the UNK Festival band. Chelsea Atkins made the UNK Honor band. Junior Elyssa Leach said, “At UNK, I liked the challenge of playing difficult music that we don’t usually play.” Senior Joe Fehringer said, “I liked our band director, Dr. Schnoor.” Junior Emily Taylor said, “I liked being able to play with so many new people.”
Six students were selected for the WSC Honor Band. Three freshmen students made the Symphonic Band. They are Lexy Nuesch, Morgan Siedschlag, and Myckaila Leach. Sophomore Laurie Venteicher made the Wind Ensemble. Venteicher said, “It was fun because I got to see some of my friends from other schools who were there last year.”
Four junior high students made the WSC Middle School Band. They are Rachel McGill, Rachelle Tucker, Briana Polt, and Matt Proffit. Two students, Hannah Higgins and Briton Rodenborg, were selected as alternates.
