Brentyn Rampone Signs with the Navy

By Claudia Riggert

Pierce senior Brentyn Rampone has signed with the United States Navy to see the world and achieve free college. Rampone decided to continue his life plan with the Navy after talking to a recruiter who allowed him to see the opportunities the Navy would allow him.

Rampone will begin this journey on June 16 with basic training in Great Lakes, Illinois. Here, he will learn more about the Navy and work toward the physical and mental strength that is needed to become successful in the Navy. Rampone then will have to pass the Physical Readiness Test offered by Basic Training, which includes 50 pushups, 50 situps, and a 1.5-mile run.

Rampone has already taken the first steps to qualify for the Navy by going down to the MEPS (Military Entrance Processing Station) in Omaha and passing a test stating that he is medically ready to go for basic training. Rampone plans on performing a Cryptologic Technician Networking task for the Navy, which includes work with cyber security.

Rampone talks about the benefits and reasons he will be going to the Navy, stating, “I will be able to help my country, achieve better schooling and training than any college will be able to offer me, meet new people, and learn a new level of discipline.”

Pierce High wishes Rampone the best of luck with his future with the Navy!
