Boys Golf Season Preview
By Skylar Scholting
Spring is here and that means the Bluejay boys golf season has started. This year the Jays have 19 members.
Seniors on the team are Travis Emory, Camden Jansen, Champion White, and Brayden Kuper. The three juniors on the team are Cooper Wachholtz, Kreighton Simpson, and Payton Cederburg. Sophomores include Colter Anderson, Zane McKeown, Tyler Schulz, Cameron Kuehler, Clay White, and Alexzander Weinrich. Last but not least, the freshmen of the team include Hunter Parsons, Brayden Lambrecht, Logan Gubbels, Noah Fuerhoff-Gubbels, Keaton Vavra, and Maddox Ronspies.
Out of these 19 members, there are only three returning letter winners: Emory, Jansen, and Schulz. The Bluejay golf team lost four varsity golfers last year including a state medalist. One adversity that the golf team may face this year is they have a lot of new faces to varsity.
“I’m excited about this group,” head coach Zachary Weber states. “We did lose a lot from last year’s team, but we’ve had a lot of enthusiasm for the sport from our younger guys. They put in a lot of hard work and now get to show what they can do.”
With that being said, Weber has high expectations for the team such as winning conference and placing in the top two at districts.
