Lady Jays Golf Swings into Districts

by Morgan Blecher

The Pierce Lady Jays claimed 8th place at the Fair Play Golf Course on Monday, October 7, in district golf. Varsity player Sydney Erikson shot a total of 86 taking home first place honors. Erikson says, “Looking ahead to state I would really like to place in the top five for Class C. I also would like to capitalize on my short game and minimize the three puts.” This appearance at state will be the fourth for Erickson.

Keli Shermer received 36th place and shot a 127. Junior Rebecca Albrecht placed 39th with a total of 129, and shooting a total of 133 and taking 43rd place was freshman Alena Peters. Zaylah Pfanstiel took home 50th place shooting a 143.

Head Coach Melinda Stelling says,”We were disappointed with the team score and the fact that the team didn't make it to state. However, it is very exciting that Sydney is the district champion and will be competing at the state meet in North Platte Monday and Tuesday!  I'm sure she will represent Pierce High well.”

That concludes the end of the Lady Jays season as they didn’t make it to state, but they tried their hardest throughout the season.
