Track Teams Sprint Past Competitors

Both the boys’ and girls’ varsity track teams traveled to Wayne to compete in their second meet of the year, where both teams took home championships as well as the overall team win on Tuesday, April 2, with a combined score of 313.50 points. The girls’ team scored 173.50 points, and the boys’ team scored 140 points.

Overcoming the snow from the previous night, the girls’ team excelled at the track meet. In the 100-meter dash, Maiya Baumann placed 5th with a time of 13.99, and Elizabeth Hammer placed 6th with a time of 14.15. In the 200-meter dash, Alexus Sindelar placed 3rd with a time of 28.61, Kenzie Moeller placed 4th with a time of 29.31, and Elizabeth Hammer placed 6th with a time of 30.24. In the 100-meter hurdles Maggie Brahmer placed 2nd with a time of 15.94, Faith Lubischer placed 5th with time of 19.24, and Abigail Meier placed 6th with a time of 19.83. In the 300-meter hurdles, Maggie Brahmer placed 2nd with a time of 52.00, Abigail Meier placed 3rd with a time of 52.06, and Faith Lubischer placed 4th with a time of 52.69. In the 4x100 relay, Pierce A placed 1st with the team of Kenzie Moeller, Maggie Brahmer, Alexus Sindelar, and Callie Arnold with a time of 53.48. In the 4x400 relay, Pierce A placed 1st with the team of Alexus Sindelar, Katie Vogt, Callie Arnold, and Payten Simmons, with a time of 4:24.42. In the 4x800 relay, Pierce A placed 1st with the team of Alexus Sindelar, Callie Arnold, Payten Simmons, and Zoe Brenden, with a time of 10:34.88. In high jump, Maggie Brahmer placed 1st with a jump of 5-00.00, Rhayna Waldner placed 3rd with a jump of 4-08.00, and Payten Simmons placed 5th with a jump of 4-06.00. In pole vault, Angelica Volquardsen placed 4th with a vault of 7-00.00, and Morgan Christ placed 5th with a vault of 6-06.00. In long jump, Kenzie Moeller placed 1st with a jump of 15-11.25, Morgan Blecher placed 2nd with a jump of 15-05.50, Janae Arens placed 4th with a jump of 14-09.25, and Gina Wragge placed 6th with a jump of 14-04.00. In triple jump, Gina Wragge placed 1st with a jump of 33-06.00, Faith Lubischer placed 3rd with a jump of 31-00.50, and Abbey Fuerhoff placed 6th 29-09.00. In discus, Kaylee Dvorak placed 1st with a throw of 107-09, and Sarah Miller placed 4th with a throw of 94-00. In shot put, Kaylee Dvorak placed 1st with a throw of 35-04.00, and Marie Stone placed 4th with a throw of 33-00.00. The 1600 freshman medley placed 4th with the time of 5:14.08.

The boys’ team also had multiple individuals helping to accumulate their score. In the 100-meter dash, Carson Oestreich placed 1st with a time of 11.40, and Dalton Freeman placed 4th with a time of 11.57. In the 200-meter dash, Dalton Freeman placed 1st with a time of 23.79. In the 400-meter dash, David Dale placed 6th with a time of 54.95. In the 800-meter run, Mason Sindelar placed 1st with a time of 2:05.31. In the 1600-meter run, Isaac Lambrecht placed 6th with a time of 5:16.93. In the 110-meter hurdles, Devan Roth placed 1st with a time of 15.84. In the 300-meter hurdles, Carson Oestreich placed 1st with a time of 42.86, and Dylan Delka placed 6th with a time of 45.86. In the 4x100 relay, Pierce A placed 2nd with the team of Devan Roth, Dalton Freeman, Carson Oestreich, and Brett Tinker with a time of 45.14, and Pierce B placed 3rd with the team of Dylan Delka, Ritter Oestreich, David Dale, and Logan Moeller with a time of 47.21. In the 4x400 relay, Pierce A placed 2nd with the team of David Dale, Dalton Freeman, Carson Oestreich, and Mason Sindelar with a time of 3:37.88. In the 4x800 relay, Pierce A placed 2nd with the team of Chris Efta, Dawson Watts, Cole Vogt, and Isaac Lambrecht  with a time of 9:19.36. In high jump, Dawson Watts placed first with a jump of 5-08.00. In pole vault, Michael Kruntorad placed 4th with a vault of 10-00.00. In long jump, Brett Tinker placed 3rd with a jump of 19-03.00, and Logan Moeller placed 4th with a jump of 19-00.00. In triple jump, Gavin Larson placed 1st with a jump of 42-05.00, and Mason Sindelar placed 4th with a jump of 40-03.00. In discus, Colby Richart placed 1st with a throw of 143-03, and Cruz Gleason placed 6th with a throw of 133-07. In the 1600 freshman sprint medley, Pierce A placed 1st with the time of 4:19.25.

Coach Tim Waldner commented on the performance saying it was “another solid day. Everyone is showing signs of improving, and I think our quality and depth are definitely starting to show.”

The next varsity team meet is on Saturday, April 13, for those who qualify for the Sioux City Relays. The next full varsity team track meet is the Wausa Invitational held at the Pierce track on Tuesday, April 18.
