SB Lady Jays Take Victory Against Madison

The Pierce Lady Jays played a softball game and took the win against the Madison/Humphrey/Lindsay Dragons on Thursday, September 6, at Madison with a final score 11-7.

Starting off the game, MHL managed to score two runs and hold the Lady Jays to one to take an early lead. During the second inning both team held each other to zero runs, but coming into third inning, Lady Jays hammered in five runs and kept MHL to four to tie the game at six. In the fourth and fifth innings, it was quiet offensively with no runs scored from either teams. The Lady Jays managed to pull ahead with one run in the sixth and hold MHL to none. The Lady Jays sealed their win in the final inning, where they scored four runs and held Madison to just one to win off the game.

Against the Dragons, Brianna Aguilera had five hits, Kaylee Dvorak had three, and Angelica Volquardsen and Mikala Stone each had one.

Defensily, Dvorak had eight putouts, Kiley Bierman had five, Hammer had two, and Stone, Aguilera, Magdalena Dale, Kaycie Druyor, and Ashton Oestreich each had one. For assists, Aguilera had three, and Bierman, Druyor, and Oestreich all had two. Aguilera threw three strikeouts from the mound.

Coach Marika VonSeggern said,  “As a team, the girls stayed positive the whole game, even when we were having trouble offensively. Overall, I’m proud of the girls for not giving up when things weren’t going our way and playing through the tough innings.”

The next softball game for the Pierce Lady Jays is Tuesday, September 18, at the Pierce home fields against Twin River.
