The Bluejay wrestlers traveled to Albion on Saturday, January 27, to bring home 6th place out of 14 competing teams in the Boone Central Invite.

Medaling in this tournament were Cody Yawn (1st), Ryder Fuchs (1st), Jeremiah Kruntorad (2nd), Brett Tinker (5th), Dylan Kuehler (6th), Sam Rosno (7th), and Mason Sedlacek (7th).

Individually, two wrestlers went undefeated, with Cody Yawn going 4-0 at 132 and Ryder Fuchs going 3-0 at 195.

At 106, Devin Graae went 1-2. At 113, Sedlacek went 1-2. Also at 113, Ethan Dohmen went 0-3. At 120, Kruntorad went 2-1. At 126, Jayden Sporleder went 1-2. At 138, Jaden Jones went 0-3. At 145, Tinker went 3-2. At 152, Travis Jensen went 0-3. At 182, Cole Cheney went 1-2. At 220, Kuehler went 3-3. At 285, Rosno went 1-2.

“I was proud of how hard we competed even though we only had two days to prepare for the meet,” said coach Tyler Legate. The tournament took place following a week that contained three snow days for students, which meant just two days of practice.

The Jays will compete again on Friday, February 2, for a dual with Pender, and again on Saturday, February 3, for Mid-States competition at Norfolk Catholic.
