Juniors Attend College Fair
The Pierce High juniors attended the annual Tri-County Educational Planning Day on Monday, September 19, in Plainview, to learn about different college options.
The Educational Planning Days take place all over Nebraska. Pierce is part of seven high schools in this area of the state that take turns hosting the college fair. Some of the schools that attended the fair in Plainview this year were Clearwater, Elgin, Elkhorn Valley, Neligh, Orchard, Osmond, Pierce, Plainview, Randolph, Stanton, and Windside.
“Every junior in Nebraska has a chance to meet with reps from colleges with programs that they might be interested in,” said guidance counselor Mary Birch. “Students can pick up free brochures and planning materials and ask questions like costs, admission requirements, scholarships, housing.”
Birch also said that seniors are also eligible to attend if they are still unsure where they want to go to college.
At this year’s fair, 40 different colleges were in attendance, representing five different states including Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota, and Wyoming. There were also some military booths, like the National Guard, who were present.
