Students Take Reading Pilot Tests
Students Take Reading Pilot Tests
by Krystina Schuett
Seven grades of Pierce Public School students took a pilot reading test on Monday, April 18.
The purpose of the test was so the state could try out new English and language arts standards. The test was developed to see how students could apply English and reading lessons in the real world. The pilot test did not count in the students’ scores on the other two reading tests they had taken this school year.
The pilot test included questions with multiple answers and writing as well as multiple choice. These different questions made students answer in a more complete fashion.
All schools in the state of Nebraska took the pilot test, but only certain grades. From Pierce, students in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 took the pilot reading test.
The new format for the state reading test will be given to students during the next school year.
