All-School Play Performs Parody of Dracula

All-School Performs Parody of Dracula
by Briana Polt

Pierce’s all-school play cast and crew put on three outstanding performances from Friday, April 11, to Saturday, April 12, at the PHS auditorium. The cast enacted the play to the elementary students at 2:00p.m. on Friday and then at 7:00p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
The play Kochenderfer’s Dracula by Tim Kochenderfer was a mockery of the original Dracula. A young man named Jonathan and the famous vampire hunter Van Helsing travel to Transylvania to track down Dracula. Setting out to find his long lost love, Dracula tries to steal Jonathan’s wife, Mina.
The major roles of the play were as follows:  Sam Halsey acted the part of Dracula, Caleb Lohrberg played Jonathan, Briton Rodenborg took the role of Van Helsing, and London Sindelar played Mina. The cast was composed of 42 students, ranging from seventh to twelfth grade. Every part was of equal importance in making the play a success.
“It is encouraging to see so many youth enjoying drama,” said director Danielle Goetsch following the successful performances. “It gives me that little boost I need to prepare for the years to come.”
An awards ceremony for the drama activities took place after Saturday’s performance. Before the awards, Mrs. Goetsch delivered speeches to each one of the six seniors. London Sindelar, Alisha White, MaKayla Douglass, Derrick Bjorklund, Caleb Lohrberg, and Briton Rodenborg made up the senior portion of the cast. Then, head director Goetsch and assistant director Misty Halsey presented several letters and other individual awards to outstanding actors of both one-act and all-school in each grade level.
