Shada Competes at State Cross Country

By Riley Lawrence

This year, Pierce was able to send one runner to Kearney to compete in the NSAA state cross country meet, and the one runner who represented Pierce at state cross country was Kendall Shada.

Shada is currently a senior at Pierce Jr/Sr High School and has been competing in cross country since he was just nine years old. Shada officially joined an exclusive club this year as he was able to qualify for state; he also qualified for his fourth consecutive state appearance.

“To be honest, when I crossed the finish line, I realized that my high school cross country career was over, and I thought I ran the race the best I could. It's unfortunate I wasn’t ever able to medal, but I am grateful I was able to qualify all four years,” Shada said.

Shada was able to place 20th out of the 116 runners that competed in Class C for state cross country.

Nebraska State Cross Country is held at the Kearney Country Club in Kearney. This course is known to be one of the hardest courses to run in the entire state of Nebraska.

Congratulations to Kendall on his performance, and wish him luck in his future cross country career!
