New Students at PHS
New Junior Enters Pierce High

Moving to a new school can bring new people, new experiences, and a different environment. For junior Kyndal Werner, this school year brought a change as she moved from her previous school to Pierce High School. As she adjusts, she is getting to know her classmates and her teachers.
“I was surprised that I actually like the block scheduling, instead of eight periods a day,” Werner said, since starting here.
Werner does not eat the lunches provided at school; instead, she brings her own lunch from home. Every day she packs food that she enjoys. One of her favorite lunches that she brings from home is leftover pasta.
Since moving here, she has had the opportunity to get involved with activities and sports.
She said she will be involved in “basketball, volleyball, track, and FCA.”
Joining these activities has helped her meet new people and become more involved in the school.
Meet New Student Kayten Werner

Pierce welcomes new student Kayten Werner from Elkhorn Valley. She has three siblings who attend Pierce; one is at the high school, and the other two are at the elementary school. In addition, she has an older brother in college. Werner is a sophomore at Pierce High this year.
“I'm most looking forward to doing sports,” Werner stated.
She is excited to start sports and to have a great school year.
“Just how involved and welcoming everyone is,” Werner stated as she was asked how she is liking the school year so far.
Werner loves hanging out with family and friends, being outdoors, and playing sports. She loves getting involved in activities and being involved in the community.
New Student - Brecken Krueger

Many students experience a change when they move from Zion Lutheran to Pierce High School, and Brecken Krueger is no exception. After three weeks of school, Krueger has adapted well and gotten to all her classes without a hitch.
Krueger is an incoming freshman from Zion Lutheran. Her parents are Lydee Jo and Chris Krueger. She also has a younger sister, Brynlee, and an older brother, Boston.
When asked what the most difficult change was coming to Pierce High, she said it was learning where all her classes were, since it is a bigger school than Zion.
“I am in volleyball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes right now, but I plan to do basketball and track too,” Krueger said.
Being involved in different activities has helped Krueger to get used to the school, make new friends, and get adjusted to how Pierce High runs much quicker.
“I’m looking forward to seeing how high school sports go and just getting to be a part of high school,” Krueger said.
So look out for Krueger on the volleyball court, basketball court, and on the track.
Dagen Halsey Moves Up the Hill

Pierce High School welcomes freshman Dagen Halsey, a former student at Zion Lutheran School. Halsey is the son of Kyle and Ashley Halsey.
Halsey has two siblings, including one older sister, Kaelyn Halsey, and one younger brother, Paxton. Halsey has one dog at home named Kasey.
Halsey says that he likes Pierce so far because “I’m with my friends, and it feels more involved here then at Zion.” He is involved in football, basketball, and track and field.
This semester his classes include algebra, English 9, Spanish, and strength and fitness. His favorite class so far is strength and fitness.
Halsey wants to be a dentist when he grows up.

New Student, Alayna Herian Arrives at PHS

Pierce High School welcomes a new student, Alayna Herian. She attended Zion Lutheran before transferring up to the high school for her freshman year.
“Switching classes and meeting new people,” is what Herian said is her favorite part of high school so far.
Herian is involved in volleyball, basketball, and track, along with student council.
Her favorite thing to do outside of school is hang out with her friends.
She lives with her parents, Matt and Lyndsay Herian, and has three siblings: Nora, a senior; Wyatt, a 6th grader at Zion Lutheran; and Baker, who is in 1st grade at Zion as well.
Make sure to give Herian a warm welcome.
New Student Joins Pierce High School

Please give a warm welcome to new student Keelan Claussen, who joined Pierce High School this year as a freshman.
He previously attended Zion Lutheran School, down the road from the high school. Claussen has two half-brothers named Royce and Kynor Larson. He is also the owner of a playful dog whose name is Blaze.
When asked what he likes to do in his free time, he replied, “I like to play basketball and hang out with my friends.”
Claussen stated that he has been enjoying his first few weeks at the high school and that the people have been very nice. His favorite class so far has been pre-algebra.
