New Coach Looks to Build a Winning CultureĀ
by Kinley Hilkemann
The 2026 Pierce softball team has a new head coach, but he may look familiar to many. Coach Ryan Ohnoutka served as an assistant softball coach last year but has taken over as head coach this season.
Creating a strong team culture was important to Ohnoutka. “We are building a culture where we value effort, attitude, and enthusiasm,” Ohnoutka stated.
By highlighting these qualities, he hopes the team works hard on and off the field, stays positive, and brings energy not only to the game but also to practice.
Along with building a strong team culture, Ohnoutka hopes the team will continue to improve while enjoying the game.
Ohnoutka knows that players will make mistakes and face challenges, but he said, “Mistakes are going to happen just like in life, and it's important to be able to bounce back.”
As the team looks ahead to this season, Ohnoutka hopes to focus on effort, attitude, and enthusiasm by creating an environment where players can learn from mistakes and improve while still making softball fun.
