Final FFA Banquet

By: Naomi Sullivan

Saturday, the 2026 FFA group came to its final close when the FFA banquet was held at the high school in the gym.

“I thought our speaker, Steve Tucker from Perkins County, did a wonderful job. He gave us some life lessons to walk away with. The overall banquet ran very smooth,” Dierck White, former FFA president, said.

The FFA banquet was a good opportunity to celebrate the success of the chapter and individual members throughout the year. The banquet consisted of a great meal provided by Tinker’s Concessions and Catering and a prayer. Followed by dinner, the banquet continued the banquet by handing out awards. All CDE participants and their awards, people who participated in LDE and their awards, and the Discovery green hand degrees were handed out. Greenhand and American degrees were also awarded to members. Seniors who received their State FFA degrees were mentioned, but the awards were presented at State FFA in Lincoln.

As the final goodbye for the senior officers, they went up to speak individually and finally, they all hung up their blue jackets, and finally retired from FFA.

“They will be very missed, they accomplished a lot while they were here,” Matt Neal said about the seniors leaving. “Their work ethic is unmatched by previous senior groups, and their willingness to give 100% effort. They caused a lot of mischief and related it to how their shenanigans benefited the chapter.”

Looking to next year with the initiation ceremony, Bailee Thelen is the president-elect for the new group for the 2027 group. Other newly elected officers include Evelyn Skrdla as the vice president-elect, Eleanor Bauermeister was chosen for a secretary-elect, Lillian Stern as a treasurer-elect, Kinley Hilkemann will be the reporter-elect, Lakin Prince as sentinel-elect, Kaelyn Halsey as historian-elect, Brenna Benes as parliamentarian-elect, and Kate Anderson is a chaplain-elect.

“The new officer team had to fill out applications and interview through the community and selection committee” Neal said.

Wishing the best for the ongoing seniors to accomplish big things as they leave the chapter. On to the new group for next year.
