Ninth Graders Visit Northeast for Career Day

By Brynn Schwartz

The class of 2029 spent the majority of their day exploring future career paths during freshmen career day at Northeast Community College on December 12.

The event brought together students from several area schools, giving them the chance to learn about different opportunities available after high school in a college setting.

Throughout the day, students attended three different sessions based on their personal interests. These sessions introduced possible career options and allowed students to participate in hands-on activities, helping them better understand what certain jobs involve.

“During freshman career day at Northeast Community College students from Pierce High School join students from many other area schools in learning about various opportunities after high school. Students attend three sessions based on their interests. These sessions expose students to possible jobs while providing hands-on experience,” school counselor Danielle Goetsch said. “At the end of their sessions, students eat lunch in the school cafeteria giving them a dose of the college experience.”

Overall, the career day helped students begin thinking seriously about their futures while making learning engaging and interactive.

By spending most of the day on campus, freshmen were able to see how their interests could connect to real opportunities after high school, Goetsch added.
