First Time Journalism Students Give Advice
By Grace Retzlaff
Journalism is such a fun and inviting class, which is exactly why students should join. Now, it is understandable to be a little overwhelmed and nervous about the class. However, once the time is put in, journalism can be very fun and is a good way to meet and talk to new people.
Hearing advice from people who just joined this year could be helpful for those who are planning to join journalism in the future.
“Journalism is a pretty fun class. The students in the class are pretty chill, and I also like being able to be creative. The idea of me, Lawson, and Skyler creating a podcast and being able to make it happen was awesome,” Kendall Shada, a first time journalism student, said.
Journalism allows its students to be creative and have the freedom to create and express their ideas, whether this be in story form, video form, or, in the boys’ case, podcast form.
“Join journalism if you can fit it into your schedule. Journalism is not only a fun class, but also a great learning experience for real world skills. We learn how to communicate with people, gain insight into certain topics, and it teaches us to really pay attention during events,” Lauren Delka, a first time journalism student, said.
Once again, the connections and friendships that can be made in this class are very important.
So, if the opportunity presents itself, and students have the room in their schedule, do not hesitate to add journalism to the schedule; it is worth it.
