Four Bands Perform at the All-School Band Concert
By Keaton Vavra
The fifth, sixth, junior high, and high school bands performed at the all-school band concert on Friday, May 2.
The concert celebrated the seniors’ last concert by presenting them medals for being four year letterwinners. The seniors gave back to Mr. Sindt by giving gifts of parting. The seniors recognized were Hadleigh Collison, Shaylee Gardner, Zoey Ebmeier, Mia Sackville, Amelia Ahlers, Aubrey Hanson, Kaylee Steffen, Trayton Christiansen, Kira Vavra, and Chelsea Wragge.
The fifth grade band performed the songs “Skips, Joy, and Stars,” a traditional piece, and “Let’s Rock” by Michael Sweeney.
“I enjoyed the concert, and my favorite song was ‘Let’s Rock.’ I think I am going to continue doing band,” Lanie Painter, a fifth-grade clarinet player, said.
The sixth-grade band performed “Magical Hats and Happenings” by Joshua Hinkel and “Theme From ‘Star Wars’” arranged by Carl Strommen.
The junior high band performed the pieces “Cool Cat Shuffle” by David Shaffer and “Danger Zone” arranged by Michael Story.
The high school band performed “Choreography” by Robert Sheldon, “Themes from ‘Wicked’” arranged by Michael Sweeney, “The Lambs March” by John Philip Sousa, and “Eighties Flashback” arranged by Paul Murtha.
“My favorite song was ‘Eighties Flashback.’ If I weren’t a senior, I would do it again in a heartbeat. Band gives students friendships and memories. Every student should be in band,” Vavra, a senior baritone player, said.
