K-6 Vocal concert

By Brianna Rundell

Pierce elementary students in grades kindergarten through sixth performed a choral concert for the community on Thursday, May 1, and the elementary concert was nothing short of amazing! Kids loved their songs, and it showed. “They worked hard. I couldn't have been more proud of them. Concerts give parents, friends, and relatives some insight on what their kids do at school. And it gives the students an opportunity to know what it's like to perform in front of an audience. There is so much talent in this school, and it showed at the concert,” choir director Amy Barnhill said.

The third graders started the concert with two songs, “The Banana Boat Song” and “Bust a Move!”

The next grade to come in was the second graders, who sang “Feelin’ Good!” and “Music Makes Me Sing!”

The first graders sang “Movin’ Up!” and “A Hippo in My Locker.”

“I really enjoyed it I think you could definitely tell how much the kids practiced it and enjoyed it because of their enthusiasm on the risers, and I know the crown normally likes when there’s actions to the songs too, so I think Mrs. Barnhill does a good job of incorporating actions and dances into the songs,” Krista Meyer, a Pierce elementary teacher, commented.

Next, the kindergarteners sang “The Itsy Bitsy Spider”, “Ten Little Bunnies”, and “The Kangaroo Hop.”

The fifth graders came next and sang “A Million Dreams” and “It’s a Hard-Knock Life” from Annie.

The sixth grade selections were “Copperhead Road (Line Dance)”, “What a Wonderful World” and “Everything is Awesome” from The Lego Movie.

Last but not least, the fourth grade started with a recorder feature called “Jamaican Sunrise” and finished by singing a song called “Today is Gonna Be a Great Day” from Phineas and Ferb.
