Meet the 2024-25 Cheer Team

By Elizabeth Furstenau

On Thursday, April 10, a large group met in the multipurpose room to try out for the Pierce High cheerleading squad.

Every year, newcomers and returning cheerleaders must complete a list of things that show off their skills to the judges. This year those trying out started off by doing two kicks, followed by a jump of their choice. Then, they had to present a sideline cheer called “Go All In.” Following the cheer, the girls had to do two kicks. Next was a crowd cheer called “We’re PHS.” Yet again, the girls had to accomplish a toe touch, jump of their choice, and kick. In addition to the cheers, jumps, and kicks, the girls had to perform the school’s “Onward Bluejays” dance and a tryout dance to music called "Bring the Fire.” The last thing the girls needed to complete was a series of questions asked by the judges.

The cheerleaders for the 2024-2025 season are, seniors: Aubrey Hanson, Alexis Sporleder, Jana Stone, and Aylla Weeder, juniors: Elizabeth Furstenau, Mya Johnson, Alanna McKeown, and Jenna Schwede, sophomores: Jada Brummels, Lauren Delka, Payton Montgomery, and Brynn Schwartz.

“I’m feeling good about the upcoming season, and I’m really excited to make new friends and memories,” says new member McKeown.

“I’m really looking forward to my last year and making memories with all of the girls on the team,” claims returning member Weeder.

Make sure to check out the squad on the sidelines at the games next season. Go big blue!
