The Students of the Quarter
By Lauren Ueding
The first quarter has just ended at Pierce High School and principal Mark Brahmer has picked six students to be the students of the quarter. Brahmer picks three junior high and three senior high students. Those students are junior high students Ava Bargstadt, Cooper Hansen, and Jada Johnson, and then the high school students are Amelia Ahlers, Camden Jansen, and Kaiden Fritz.
“I think it's important to recognize people who do the right things and work hard,” says Brahmer.
The way Brahmer chooses the students is that he takes recommendations from teachers and based on those recommendations, he looks at student grades, attendance, and how they get along with teachers and students. From there Brahmer keeps notes on suggestions or recommendations he gets throughout the quarter. Then at the end of the quarter, he chose the students.
“It feels good to be chosen. I also feel good about myself, and I think it will be good on my record,” said Bargstadt.
“I feel honored to have received this because it's decided by recommendations from teachers and Mr. Brahmer,” said Jansen, a senior.
