Jazz Band Takes First Place

On March 28, the Pierce jazz band headed to Northeast Community College in Norfolk where the band received first place in level two. Pierce also had soloists who won awards, including Spencer Sindt and Travis Emory. Emory also won the best level two soloist award.
“They really did outstanding getting first place against some very good competition,” band director Michael Sindt comments. “I am also very proud of Travis Emory for getting best soloist.”
The musicians who attend this event were Isaiah Yarde, S. Sindt, Ciara Garcia, Trayton Christiansen, Noah Jones, Christian Nordby, Hadleigh Collison, Kenna Sedlacek, Emory, Tate Reinke, Breanna Lindstrom, Braxtynne Emerson, Kaylee Steffen, Aubrey Hanson, Jackson Zimmerman, Kodi Kuether, Amelia Ahlers, and Peyton Wieting.
“We went and performed in front of many judges,” Steffen, a sophomore, says, “I felt it was a good experience, and I look forward to going again next year.”
Their next performance will be on April 14, for the NSBA State Jazz Festival.
