Three 8th Graders Chosen for All-State Honor Band

by Raegan Theisen

A selected group of three eighth grade students earned the opportunity to participate in the NSBA (Nebraska State Bandmasters Association) All State Honor Band on Saturday, January 7, held at Kearney High School

Pierce eighth grader Payton Ebmeier excitedly states, “It was pretty fun and there was always a lot going on, so I never ever got bored while we were there.”

Participants included 385 students from all over Nebraska. Out of the 385 students who were selected to compete, three students were selected from Pierce, including Aubrie Zimmerman, Ebmeier and Spencer Sindt. Since the students found out about their places in the honor band, they have been practicing hard ever since.

The Pierce High students performed four songs total.

Pierce High band director, Michael Sindt says, “They had a really good time and I think they really enjoyed the guest conductors. We are one out of four small schools that had students selected. We were also competing with many other large schools from Lincoln and Omaha, so that was amazing. Overall, I am very proud of these students and the accomplishments they have made.”
