Pierce FFA Crushes LDE Competition

By Ella Gaes

On Wednesday, November 30, members of the Pierce FFA competed in the District 4 Leadership Development Event (LDE) in Madison. Members have the opportunity to compete in a range of speaking events that they choose. Members also can be in groups and can choose whatever topic they are passionate about that relates to the agriculture field.

“I thought the day went really well,” remarks Mr. Matthew Neal, FFA sponsor, “and I appreciate everyone's effort they put in. I am excited about sending three members to state.”

Pierce had successful representation in most events, and the chapter is proud to say they have three qualifiers for state including Brielle Unseld in the senior prepared category, Alexander Meier in Natural Resources, and Evelyn Skrdla in Ag Literacy.

State qualifier, Meier comments, “I feel it was a good performance from all levels. There was some good competition and I enjoyed the day.”

Falling right behind, the team receiving a purple ribbon was the Ag Demo team who included Angeline and Isabelle Skrdla, Veronica Orona, and Alexis Sporleder.

Next, receiving blue ribbons were Zaylah Pfanstiel, Haiden Magnussen, Ella Gaes, Chelsey Ottis, Trayton Christiansen, Bailee Thelen, Kinley Hilkemann, Alexandria Huwaldt, and Brianna Rundell. Two junior high quiz bowl teams also participated.
